MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM

Amplify Community Wellness (previously Covid-19 Mental Health & Wellness) is an initiative developed in response to the ever-growing need for mental health support resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. As a participant in this program, you will receive wraparound mental health care services through New Horizons Community Mental Health Center. The program is funded by Miami-Dade County.  

Developed by the team at RER Consulting Enterprise, Amplify Community Wellness is an evidence-informed mental health program designed to assist individuals throughout Miami-Dade County navigate the myriad challenges in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This multi-pronged, multi-generational, people-centric mental health and wellness program will be implemented using evidence-based modalities and examining the social determinants of health that affect the mental health and wellness of Miami-Dade County residents using Mental Health & Wellness Scorecards, workshops, and symposiums to equip residents with pandemic and disaster coping skills. 

The goal is to provide all Citizens of Miami-Dade County with the tools to respond, reassess, recover, and renew their lives to better cope and thrive during and Post COVID-19’s “new normal.

Because we believe:

        • Accessing mental health care is a right, not a privilege.
        • No one should have to forgo mental health treatment due to cost.
        • Mental health and wellness is a journey and we’re here with you to take the first step.

THE TEAM

Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade County is located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Florida. According to a 2019 census report the county had a population of 2,716,940, making it the most populous county in Florida and the seventh-most populous county in the United States. It is also Florida’s third largest county in terms of land area, with 1,946 square miles (5,040 km2). The county seat is Miami, the principal city in South Florida.

A multicultural melting pot, Miami-Dade County is home to 2,761,581 residents (a population larger than 15 states), with 71% of its population identifying as Hispanic/Latino, 75.6% White (including White Hispanics), 16.73% Black/Black American, the remaining 7.7% of the population comprised of First Nations/Indigenous People, Asian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and other races. http://www.miamidadematters.org/demographicdata

RER CONSULTING

  • Owned and operated by Ruban Roberts, RER Consulting Enterprise provides services to government and private entities with the aim to build stronger communities and operational environments through innovative programming strategies. RER Consulting develops specialized strategies, such as: project management and evaluations, workshops, training, and community outreach for the advancement of communities through public and private partnerships.

New Horizons Community Mental Health Center

New Horizons Community Mental Health Center (NHCMHC), located in Miami, Florida, will provide the key mental health services on which the program is centered. New Horizons is a nonprofit community-based agency serving a federally designated area of poverty, which began operations in Miami-Dade County in March of 1974. The Center was established to provide culturally sensitive and accessible services to its multiethnic catchment area and to ensure that the impoverished communities in Miami-Dade County received access to behavioral health resources. New Horizons has been nationally and internationally recognized for its innovative model of quality clinical care provided by multilingual (English, French, Creole and Spanish) staff and teams. New Horizons provides services to persons with common diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, post-traumatic, attention deficit, and substance abuse disorders.

If you or a loved one is in immediate danger, call 911; however, it is important to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for the assistance of someone trained in crisis intervention or trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
